Mira's backstory begins with her capture by Vikings, where she was enslaved, head-shaved, and branded. She eventually escapes and encounters Spear and Fang, forming an unlikely family unit that navigates threats from carnivorous dinosaurs, primitive mammals, and hostile Homo sapiens tribes like the Ancient Egyptian forces led by Queen Ima. During Season 2, she gives birth to a hybrid daughter fathered by Spear shortly before his sacrifice against the Chieftain. In Season 3, set during her pregnancy with this child, Mira resides in a Nubian village where she reunites with Fang and the reanimated undead form of Spear following an attack by Andrewsarchus. In Their Own Story

After escaping her Viking captors, Mira meets Spear and Fang, who become her new companions. Together they face the Colossaeus, a massive city-ship ruled by Queen Ima, where Mira helps free Kamau and his people. Following Spear's heroic death to stop the fiery Chieftain, she gives birth to their hybrid daughter. Season 3 picks up months later; Mira is pregnant with another of Spear's children while living in her village. When a group of Andrewsarchus attacks, abducting tribespeople, she leads warriors Abu and Lu alongside Fang to rescue them. During this conflict, she encounters Spear's undead form, who was reanimated by a shaman for vengeance against ape-men. After the shaman is killed, Spear wanders with limited sentience until he reunites with Mira, slowly regaining his memories through time spent with the Black River tribe.
